Building Futures: Riverlights Fire Station Team Inspires Holly Shelter Middle School Students
About
Our Riverlights Fire Station team recently welcomed students from Holly Shelter Middle School for a hands-on, immersive experience in the world of construction. This visit was part of an ongoing initiative to introduce young minds to the diverse career opportunities within the construction industry.
Hands-On Learning Experience
During the session, students engaged in interactive activities that provided a glimpse into various construction professions. From understanding blueprints to exploring the mechanics of building infrastructure, they had the opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals. Our onsite team shared their expertise, offering insights into different roles such as project management, engineering, skilled trades, and safety management.
Partnership for Workforce Development
This event marked the third of four sessions hosted in collaboration with the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce’s Career and Leadership Development Academy. This academy was established in August 2022 as a proactive response to New Hanover County’s Economic Mobility Report, which highlighted the need to develop and retain young talent in the region. By exposing students to real-world career pathways at an early age, this program helps to bridge the skills gap and cultivate a pipeline of future professionals.
Samet’s Commitment to the Community
At Samet, we are proud to support initiatives that encourage career exploration and workforce development. By partnering with the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, we aim to inspire the next generation of builders, engineers, and industry leaders.
A huge thank you to our Riverlights Fire Station team for their leadership and dedication in making this event a success. We look forward to continuing our partnership and helping shape the future of construction in our community!
