The aquarium expansion added an impressive 5,300 SF single-story, steel-framed building to the Greensboro Science Center. Decorated with an architectural aluminum rain screen veneer, the new structure aligns with the aesthetic of the building’s existing metal panels.

Within the steel-framed building, the aquarium houses seventeen new tanks of various sizes along with two independent pods that contain standalone tanks accompanied by an interactive image wall. To ensure complete safety and uninterrupted functionality, every piece of tank equipment – pumps, heat exchangers, and chillers – is reinforced with its own dedicated generator.
