For this higher education build, Samet teamed up with Barton Malow to bring about the most state-of-the-art nano facility in North Carolina and helped create an award-winning project in the process. This 106,000 SF facility is a structural steel frame with a steel deck, formed concrete, and brick veneer with precast accents. It houses sensitive and complicated equipment applied to research in many different industries.

In addition to its classrooms, this building features a lecture-style auditorium, visualization and computing facility, characterization suite, BSL-3 Lab, nanoscience and thermochemical labs, and a Computer Automated Visual Environment (CAVE). Even better, this build was a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The project team utilized nanomaterials on the site which acted as a cleansing agent on portions of the roof structure. We look forward to watching breakthrough innovations and research unfold in this cutting-edge facility.

Working with Samet Corporation on one of the more complex projects in the Triad was an excellent decision by our selection committee. The project incorporated a Class 100 Clean Room, a Computer Automated Visualization Environment, multiple wet-labs, several major gases requiring process piping specific to each gas property, various research spaces, and the project achieved LEED Gold. Samet was local which allowed for smoother communication flow which was critical to our budget, schedule, and the high-profile nature of the project. I would definitely recommend Samet Corporation for any job of this complexity.
