Samet Raises Over $200,000 for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
About
Samet associates from across our regional footprint came together to raise $238,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
This year, the fundraisers were led by Project Executive Robert Swink and VP of Housing Alton Tew.
Both Alton and Rob watched their loved ones battle leukemia, and so they made it their personal mission to lead way in their respective regions to support the LLS mission to eradicate blood cancers.
Connection to the Cause
“When you face the personal cancer challenges with people close to you, you find more appreciation and purpose in dedicating your talents, time, and money to an organization totally dedicated to positively impacting gains in cancer Research and the lives of those impacted.” – Robert Swink
On December 4th, 2014, my 17-month-old grandson Camden was diagnosed with leukemia. He endured nine months of chemotherapy, spinal lumbar punctures, numerous blood draws, and blood transfusions, spending 210 days in the hospital. Despite the brutal treatment, Camden was resilient and brave. Today, he is an active and thriving 11-year-old, though his bone marrow will always be immunocompromised. I am forever grateful for the medical interventions that saved his young life.” – Alton Tew
Light the Night
Not only did our associates and trade partners raise live changing funds for LLS, but Samet was the No. 1 corporate fundraising team in both Greensboro and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Samet supporters came together at the annual Light the Night events in Greensboro and Charlotte to celebrate these incredible achievements. Participants hold illuminated lanterns symbolizing their reason for being there: red for supporters, gold in memory of loved ones, and white for survivors and patients of all cancers.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to this cause. We look forward to supporting LLS in 2025 and continuing to build a future without cancer.
