Since 1985, the High Point Police Department operated from a converted elementary school. To embrace its growth and consolidate operations, the City of High Point called on Samet to transform the former North State Building on Westchester Drive into a state-of-the-art headquarters and 911 communications center.
The renovation and expansion of the existing 73,000 SF facility involved several key upgrades to the main building alongside the addition of two new features. These include a front entrance complete with a stair tower and public elevator, and a considerable extension at the rear, adding another 16,500 SF of space. This expansion houses a myriad of crucial functions, including a sally port, storage areas, processing facilities, kennels for the K9 unit, weight rooms, dispatch centers, and offices.
