  • The Hugh Leatherman Terminal vertical construction project for the South Carolina Port Authority includes a scope of work with 17 buildings and canopies, totaling 103,000SF across a 286-acre site next to the Cooper River.

  • This new port terminal was the first to open in the United States since 2009. The site is made of mostly stone, which is as thick as 10′ in some spots.

  • Piles were over 90′ long for several buildings. Due to unsuitable soils, many of the building foundations had to have a moat dug around them for water (ground and tidal) to drain away so foundations could be poured.

I can honestly say in my nearly 40 years of experience, I have never seen such professionalism, teamwork, innovation, and collaboration exhibited on a construction project….Samet’s efforts resulted in the on-time delivery of all the buildings, canopies, booths, and associated work, and provided for cost efficient solutions that enabled the SCPA to complete the entire project on budget.
