- The original Fire Station 56 was designed in the 1960s in the style of a residential home with smaller garage that required specially-sized fire trucks to fit into this location. The main challenge in demolishing this fire station and building a new one was where to put the firefighters so they could continue operations seamlessly during construction. They were slated to move twelve firefighters into a 900 SF adjacent house on the property, realizing the space would be less than accommodating where the truck would be parked outside with the elements. Samet proposed a temporary house for more comfort and efficiency, and the solution was accepted.
- The new fire station is an entirely updated space for this team with proper garage bay heights, and all new amenities and living quarters.
